MexiKHANA!

Chili’s needs no introduction. It’s a mega brand that has conquered the world, one city at a time. We were invited for a bloggers meet as soon as it stepped it’s Mexican foot in Chennai and I was surprised! WHY? It was Crowded! People already knew about it. Well, a brand is a brand right?

It’s located bang opposite Escape Cinemas in Express Avenue, Royapetta. We went on a weekday for dinner and the place was crowded. OK…I might have mentioned this before but I just can’t get over it. The place is quite spacious and can accommodate a lot of people but unfortunately not a huge group as the tables and chairs are designed for at most six people to sit. Book in prior if you are going with your whole tribe. They would hopefully do some arrangements for the same.

Quirky, fun ambience with live cricket screenings. What more do you want boys? (except money)

The tables which I had mentioned above. If you are a group of four or less, It’s hella easy for you to reserve a table.

We started our Tex mex journey with some non Alcoholic drinks ( Chennai government is cool that way) and moved on to two huge starters, two medium sized main dishes and one instagram worthy dessert.

1. Wild Raspberry Margarita

We were served the drink in a HUGE,HEAVY glass! +1 for the presentation and extra points for that extra punch it gave us.

2. Chilly Mango Margarita

Come on..It’s the mango season. We had to have Mango mocktail. With CHILLY? even better! Do order this. You wouldn’t be disappointed.

3.Peach breezer

The least impressive of the lot. It was just too simple.

The chilly Mango margarita is a clear winner

4. Nachos and Cheese

I am very particular about my Nachos&Cheese. This was a little burnt and I didn’t like that authentic taste, sadly.

5. Ultimate dipper

Priced at Rs.695, You can have almost 5 starters with exotic sauces and dips. We vegetarians selected the Cheese poppers, Breaded  South western Paneer roll and Quesa bites. The sauce is the king here. It makes everything taste a notch higher. But my fav was…..

The South western roll. MAGIC! Crispy tortilla stuffed with tasty mushrooms, corn and served with Avocado ranch dressing.

6. Main course – Santa Fe Paneer Quesidillas

Quite filling but super yummy so no complaints on that!

7. Main course – Mushroom Jack Fajita

The Tex mex version of a chapathi roll. This was clearly the dish of the night and it’s mainly because of the juicy mushrooms and cottage cheese stuffing.

8. Finale – Molten Chocolate cake with Vanilla ice cream

CHOCOLATE HAVEN. Enough said.

Price:

Since it was ‘on the house’, I am not able to comment on the price and service but it’s generally 1000 rupees per head which is…costly but Chili’s is a brand and if you want to experience some tasty&authentic Tex-mex food, this is THE place for you. It’s like getting a Tommy hilfiger shirt instead of a Max shirt because of the brand. Same concept applies for Chili’s as well.

Having been able to have just mashed potatoes and desserts in Chili’s branches abroad, I was SO happy with the Vegetarian options they have here in Madras. If I am craving for some quesadillas after catching a movie in Escape Cinemas, you would see me in Chili’s FOR SURE. I gotta start saving up some money then…

START SAVING and HAPPY EATING!
