Mamagoto needs no introduction. It’s a valuable addition to Chennai’s food scenes. As I had mentioned in my previous post ( http://www.zoma.to/OEPZeM ), Mamagoto has conquered major cities of India and is here to capture Chennai, one basil cup at a time. Unique concept, innovative dishes and the amenable staffs are the vital reasons for the dynamic growth of Mamagoto. For someone who has hogged 100% of the veg dishes which mamagoto has to offer, I was extremely pleased to know that they have revamped their menu and have lot more to serve to an anticipating herbivore like me.
If I have to talk about their quirky interiors, I would be praising all day so let me jump straight into what matters the most.
Beverages
I was always a bit disappointed with the beverages menu previously. God has answered my prayers and they have introduced a lot more into their new menu. The name Pop rock refurbished my childhood memories. I would buy ’em for a couple of rupees and let it slowly explode in my mouth. This had a similar feeling ( Foodgasm). We were served Orange pop rock, Water melon pop rock, Litchi pop rock, Blue berry pop rock, Kiwi and passion pop rock in the form of a beverage and it did explode! Burst of flavors, I meant. In a good way.
Starters
What I loved the most about was, in spite of the vegetarians being just 10 % of the total population on that table, the amount of vegetarian starters which were served were almost equal to the non vegetarian starters. This itself shows the effort that they have put in to please us. You did please us, alright!
I went on a spree with the Cheese and truffle dumplings as it was creamy, cheesy and packed with flavours. The other vegetarian additions were Mama’s veg dumplings, Crystal dumplings and Tofu Salad. Despite of having new dishes to relish, we went back to the Crispy Lotus stem because IT IS THE BEST!

Now comes the BAAP of MAMAGOTO – Crispy lotus stem. As you can see from the below picture, My fellow foodie friend broke the food blogger’s rule ( click pics before you eat) and just dug straight in. I seriously understand him.
Main course
As much as I enjoyed my starters, I didn’t quite get satisfied with the main course. I am no asian food connoisseur but I did feel that Masaman curry with Jasmine rice didn’t do it for me.
The Mama’s Spicy ramen bowl on the other hand was a savior as it had all the veggies I love and had the perfect amount of sweet and spice.
Desserts
Coconut Panco banana with Caramel and Vanilla ice cream is a good option for those who are keen on an egg less dessert. Strong flavors of coconut and vanilla holds the dish together. Thee other favorite is the Caramel sponge cake and the home-made coconut and palm sugar ice cream ( egg less).

Pricing
As this was n invitation, we weren’t allowed to pay but this would cost around 1500-2000 rupees for two which is slightly on the higher end.
‘All I can say is, if you love Asian flavors, you GOT TO GO TO MAMA GO TO’!
Happy eating
Cheers
