Affordable Luxury – Westin Chennai

A few weeks back, I had visited a hidden treasure in my locality. Yes, We all know that Velacherry houses a luxurious star property named The Westin. However how many of you know that they have a great restaurant inside? Sunset Grill is a restaurant specializing in Kebabs , grills and are open for dinner everyday ! How could I miss this? Meh..better late than never.

We went on a gloomy Saturday night to a roof top restaurant. In awe of their Candle light setup, we knew that this was perfect for a date night. We were praying that Lord Varuna doesn’t play a spoil sport and thank god ( Quite, literally). We were invited to try out their special menu for their ongoing kebab and grills. Priced only at 899 + Taxes, it’s a mega deal for a humongous property like Westin.

We started off with their signature Lime and Basil Mojito. Ah yet another Virgin Mojito! But the subtle punch of green chilies made me take back my words. We also had a Chef special Berry Concoction to prepare our tummy for the yummy grills.

Yes, coming to the real deal! The Unlimited Kebab and grills platter! Paneer, Aloo, pineapple, gobi, Mushroom and what not! DELICIOUS is an understatement. I am sure the non vegetarians had more options but because I don’t eat meat, I couldn’t try it to talk about the taste.

We were full with the starters! I mean how can we resist unlimited quantity of charred goodness. But we did and moved on to the main course. You can select either Biryani or bread. We had both. The starters created such a huge benchmark that the main course failed to do so. The Biryani is a better pick since it was spicy yet flavorful. The naan was very disappointing. In-spite of having it quickly, it was hard and had a weird taste. The Sabjis couldn’t make it up.

While we were rubbing our food belly, it started to drizzle. We quickly had a taste of the desserts which were placed in front of us. The Gulab Jamun tasted decent while the other ones failed to impress us.

Overall, with outstanding starters, mediocre main course and decent desserts, we finished our dinner. You could definitely try it out for their grills, their breathtaking view and their super friendly staff! It’s an overall experience which needs to be appreciated. You can book a table with them via Zomato or visit them directly.
